30A- Final Reflection

I feel like my final reflection post is also basically my post on celebrating failure. I had a lot of lows this semester with me not performing as well as I would have wanted to in this class. I do not aspire to be an entrepreneur nor did I want to do a lot of the assignments, but I see they did have an impact on me this semester. I have realized different things about myself, my work ethic and my ideas.

One of the highs is the fact that I turned in all my assignments for this class for the past 3 weeks. I know that may seem like a small, remedial accomplishment. Nonetheless, it is an accomplishment in itself. I struggled with various things this semester, and I had no motivation to get any work done for a long period of time. This affected me tremendously in this course being as you cannot submit parts two and three if you do not submit the first.

Some of the fun moments and a highlight of mine was interacting with the various people within the Gainesville community when conducting my interviews. This made the experience a bit more enjoyable for me. The experiences I am most proud of are actually creating a business venture and following through on plans for it. This was a different experience for me, but I do see the benefit of it now.

I realize I have the competencies to become an entrepreneur but I do not aspire to be one. I now see that is okay. Everyone does not have to be in business for themselves. Sometimes, others need the help of hard work from a motivated individual to get the ball rolling for their own business.

The one recommendation I would make to students is to stay up-to-date in the work or simply try to get it done early. Also, take the assignments seriously because they do bring benefit once you see the outcome to your business ventures in the end. One way to foster an entrepreneurial mindset is to think of it to be happening. This is your idea that you are bringing to life in real time.
Overall, the main thing to have in this class is grit and perseverance.

29A- Venture Concept #2

Opportunity:

The changes in the environment that create this opportunity include the increase in the amount of abductions and assault cases in the United States.
Geographically, the market is defined as the East Coast for now. It would be ideal to have my business idea/program spread across the country. Demographically, the market is defined as high school and college-aged young adults.
I believe the "window of opportunity" will be open for some time. The amount of abductions and assaults are continuously rising.
Innovation:

Boards of Education across the United States will require students to go through self-defense and weapons training courses in high schools and colleges. Students must renew their training every 2 years. If you are not a student, you can pay for these classes at the local Boys and Girls Clubs. This not only brings in money for the facilities but also raises awareness about Boys and Girls clubs and the various opportunities for individuals to get involved in their communities. By doing this, we keep more areas safe and build a sense of family among the general body. Every 3 months, local businesses would offer grants for those in the community who cannot afford to pay for the classes but still want to learn how to defend themselves. A community day would be held on a Sunday in partnership with the local police department to offer these courses and basic training. This gives the businesses the opportunity to showcase their services and products offered while helping the community.
My business would train the professionals and place them in the various schools. This would be in collaboration with the police department in that city/state.

Venture Concept:

Customers would use my product because it would be required in various schools districts across the country. Major competitors would be boxing gyms providing classes or karate instruction classes. This is a service and the level of training for the professionals plays a major role in the progression of my business. The instructors must train and change their course materials with the times.
Three minor elements:

My "secret sauce" is the amount of connections I already have in various police departments and school boards and my background in karate.
In five years, I want my program to be implemented in at least 4 school districts across the East Coast. I could start small and work my way across coasts to reach a larger audience.

Customers currently are not satisfying this need to my knowledge. I do not know of any self-defense programs in place in schools to help combat this problem. Therefore, there is no loyalty to anything.

Changes
I need to be more specific about how I am actually going to market myself to school boards. I need to steer it away from being a normal defense class that can be given at a local boys and girls club but rather a direct need for students and college-aged adults. I also need to come up with a price point for the training and what I will be specifically selling in terms of the program. Can anyone just go through the training or will I run it as an extension with the police departments. Will the police departments do the training?

27A- Reading Reflection #3

Coco Chanel: Lisa Chaney

I love fashion and have always followed the story of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel and her business. The thing that surprised me the most is her childhood story. This surprised me because the "Chanel" business is built on sophistication and wealth. She endured many hardships when she was younger and it all shaped her into the woman she became. I admire this because she could have used her experiences as a crutch but rather she used them as motivation. Even though she embarrassed to tell people about her upbringing, I think it was what her main source of motivation to achieve so much. This was one thing I least admired because I feel she should have told her story to more people and been more of a role model. There is beauty in struggle and she exemplified this with grace. One of the things I least admired about Gabrielle Chanel was her connection to Nazi affiliates. This section of the book also confused me. However, I feel this was also a confusing period for Gabrielle as well. Gabrielle encountered a lot of adversity and failures throughout her life and career, from being a woman to an entrepreneur. She struggled to make connections within the luxury fashion industry and gain respect from her peers. Another adversity she faced was the death of her lover, Arthur Chapel.

Some competencies I noticed in "Coco" was her dedication, perseverance, and sophistication. There was such a grace about her that set her apart from most women which is something I admire. If I could ask her two questions, I would ask: How did you benefit from your relationship with the Nazis? What is one item within your business you would like to change with societies trends and developments?

I think Gabrielle valued hard work. This is something I also value because I want to live an expensive life. I enjoy treating myself to the finer things in life, but it is hard to do that when you do not have the means to do so.

28A Your Exit Strategy

I do not intend to sell my business for profit. My mother is an entrepreneur and prides herself on hard work. I do the same, and if I worked hard enough to have my business be implemented in my local communities I would want to see it through in full. I would also want to preserve my original ideas and values that I built the company on which is one of the main reasons I would not want to sell the company. The company could be passed on from generation to generation. However, I would not pressure my children to take over the business like most people do.

I would want to make sure the company keeps a positive relationship with the various police departments and the schools that the program is implemented in. This was one of the resources in my venture's unfair advantage. Therefore, it directly affects how I proceed with my company.

26A Celebrating Failure

I have endured a lot this past semester. I definitely am not where I want to be mentally or emotionally, but I push through. The thought of graduation in May definitely helps me work through any obstacles I have and continue on even after failing many times. Over time, I have grown to be more open to taking risks and taking a leap of faith. I feel it has made me grow not only as a student, but also as a woman.

One thing I failed at this semester is coding for one of my classes. We had a coding project due that involved creating a blogging website completely through code. I had tried doing the assignment when the module first started. I immediately got frustrated with the assignment and decided to come back to it over time. I would try to work on it whenever I had free time. However, the codes never would work how I planned them to. I couldn't get pictures to correctly format themselves as an image on the blog. I did not think the project would be this hard so I did not go through the tutorial videos as in depth as I should have. By the time I tried to look again, the project deadline was quickly approaching. In the end I did not finish the project, did not meet any of the requirements, and I got a 30% on it. Depressing. I know.

I learned, for projects I am not familiar with at all, I need to take the tutorials and help I am given more seriously. I also realized even after failing multiple times, you still may not get that spur of luck in the end if you don't deviate from actions that made you fail in the first place.

This class has changed my perspective on failing. I am not doing well AT ALL and will most likely finish the class with a less than perfect grade. However, I have learned a lot from this course. I need to take deadlines more seriously. I need to stay more up-to-date with my assignments. Even when I think I know what I am doing, it is okay to ask questions to be more sure of myself. Also, the little things count. I failed myself this semester because I promised myself I wouldn't miss any assignments in any of my classes, and I did just that. I have a lot of work to do towards reaching my goals. The work will only help me exceed in my journey towards being successful.

25A- What's Next?

What you need to do. Again, you'll need to hit the pavement and talk to potential customers. This time, you'll be armed with your "venture concept" description. Break your post into two pieces:
  • Existing Market
  • New Market
Existing Market.
Step 1: Talk about what you think is what's next in terms of products and services for your venture.
Step 2: Interview three customers who are already part of the market you have identified, and ask them what they believe is next for a venture like yours. Describe to them your business, and simply ask "What should we be doing that we aren't planning to do?" Next, ask them about your ideas of what customers might want next.
Step 3: Based on your own expectations and the feedback you received from customers, set a path for the future. In two to three paragraphs, describe what makes the most sense for your venture in terms of growing in your existing market.
New Market.
Step 1: Identify a radically different market from what you're currently planning to target. If you're currently targeting B2B, think about going after a B2C market. If you're currently targeting an affluent part of society, think about targeting a very poor part of society.
Step 2: Once you have identified a radically different market, describe how you think your venture concept might be able to create value for people in that market. You may have to get creative with this -- that's OK -- and perfectly welcome!
Step 3: Interview two people from this new market. Again, describe to each interviewee what your concept is. Then, ask them how they think your business might be help to meet customers like them. What kinds of adaptations to the product/service mix do they think you should make to be successful in this new market?
Step 4:  Reflect, in two to three paragraphs, on what you learned about this new market. What surprised you the most? Were any of your expectations/assumptions correct? Does this new market, on second thought, appear to be as attractive as your existing market? And so on.

23A- Your Venture's Unfair Advantage

Resources:

1) I already have contacts in both the Gainesville Police Department, UFPD, and Prince George's County Police Department in Maryland.

VRIN: This is valuable because I will need the cooperation of various departments to make the program successful in the communities I serve. Rare because not too many people have contacts in police departments in various states. Not hard to copy by others if they network properly. Non-substitute because the self-defense courses would need to be taught by trained professionals.

2) The increase in human trafficking cases and abductions is causing more people to take action into their own hands. I would have the support of the general public.

VRIN: Valuable resource because I need the support of the community to make the community day events a success. Rare because no one is currently doing any community  to combat these unfortunate events on the surface as far as personal safety. Others could copy this by gaining the support of the community first and having them back their program. Non-substitute because I need the support for the program to be implemented.

3) My mom is an event/meeting planner and can help coordinate the various events for the community day that would happen every 3 months.

VRIN: Valuable because my mom knows how to coordinate events and what goes into planning a successful event. Rare because she is my mother and would help me over someone else. Able to be copied by others if they can find an event planner to be on their team of supporters. I am able to substitute this by keeping this venture strictly business and not working with family.

4) I have a lot of skills and qualities that set me apart from most people. I am hard-working, determined, and passionate.

VRIN: valuable because my skills can help me be successful in my venture. not necessarily rare because all types of people have these same qualities. It is about how you use them to your advantage. Able to be copied by others because of the same reasons. Substitute because I may need to dive into other strengths for my venture to work out.

5) I have a team of supporters backing me in my ventures.

6) Implementing this program in schools will create more jobs across the country

7) Support of county school boards
VRIN: Valuable because in order for the program to be implemented in schools, the board has to approve it.

8) Have financial supporters or people in my network who could be sponsors for the program and community events for the first year.

9)

22A- Elevator pitch no. 3

1) The pitch. Same as last time, 1-minute long. No Web cams. No sitting. Be dynamic! Upload the video to YouTube (as you do with all of your videos) and post the link.

2) A reflection on the feedback you received from your last pitch. Describe what stood out to you as important, what feedback surprised you the most, what feedback you think was outright wrong or silly or amazing and inciteful.
I did not upload my video on time. No feedback I received was completely outrageous or outright silly. People commented that they liked how I was professionally dressed and commanded the space. The feedback I found most inciteful was to strengthen my tone. I believe a firm tone strengthens your argument because it makes people really believe in what you are saying.

3) What did you change, based on the feedback?
Third time's the charm, as they say. I bet you find a few things different from the first time, including (a) it's almost memorized, (b) you're far more comfortable in front of the camera, and (c) the pitch itself is better. If this is or isn't true for you, please include this in your reflection!

The elevator pitch came a lot easier this time. I did not have to use on-screen notes to remember topics or ideas. It wasn't fully memorized but the flow of my words also came to me a lot easier. I enjoyed doing the pitch because I felt comfortable behind the camera. Doing things like this has also helped me in the real world. I feel more capable of talking in front of people or large audiences. I am also able to communicate my ideas and thoughts better.

21A- Reading Reflection 2

Mindset: The New Psychology of Success
Carol Dweck

1) What was the general theme or argument of the book?
The general theme or argument of the book is that our mindset on a day-to-day basis is what controls who we are and what we do. Carol Dweck highlights a spectrum of our mindset that emphasizes various key ideas. Individuals either have a fixed mindset or a growth mindset. In a fixed mindset intelligence is static while in a growth mindset, intelligence can be developed. Where you fall on the spectrum affects your behavior.

2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?
The book directly connects to what we are learning in ENT3003 because it talks about how your mindset affects your amount of success. How you think either limits your potential or enhances your success. Individuals with a growth mindset do not take well to criticism which could hinder success for most. It is important to get feedback from others when starting a business or implementing a business plan. Critiques can help the growth of a business or idea. Individuals with a growth mindset are more open-minded and encourage learning and effort. How you respond to the opinions and thoughts of others directly affects how successful you can be a business owner.

3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
The exercise for this class would be like Shark Tank. Both mindsets involve reflecting on the challenges, obstacles, effort, criticism, and success of others. I believe this exercise would be able to test all of these things. The class would present business ideas, people would give feedback, they would go through a two-week period of implementing their business idea, then others would offer feedback following the case study.

4) What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?

I did not think the book would list so many ideas or tools you can use to expand your mindset. I thought it would simply explain each mindset type then elaborate on how each mindset thinks and what they do. I like how the author offered alternatives for how to change your way of thinking. I thought it would give point-blank answers. However, the book more so gives you tools and you have to use them to your benefit to learn how to fulfill your potential.

15A: Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

Segment: College athletes purchasing shoes outside of regular school ear

Interviewee #1: 21-year-old female college athlete (track)
Interviewee #2: 19-year-old male college athlete (football)
Interviewee #3: 21-year-old female college athlete (basketball)

2. Alternative evaluation:
Based on these three consumers and their buying behaviors, they choose where they buy products from and what products to purchase based on comfort, but ultimately price. Being as these students are all college athletes for sports that involve the use of their feet, they look for products that offer the most support. Overall, there is more than just one factor that determines the segment's buying behaviors. The style is important but it takes a back burner to comfort and affordability. Being as these students are all in college, the price is one of the most determining factors for what they purchase and when. You see an influx of college athletes buying ore shoes when refund drops. You also see an influx of college athletes buying shoes right before their respective seasons.

3. I have come to realize that athletes have to buy online more often nowadays. Retailing stores are seeing a decrease in the amount of larger sized products that they have in-store which directly affects this segment. You see this, especially with female college athletes. These women tend to have larger feet and wear women's sizes 9 and up. Foot Lockers, for example, usually only carries up to a 9 or 9.5 in most shoes we have in-store. Customers have to order from online and get products shipped from the warehouse in order to get what they want. The segment no longer uses cash to finance their purchases. College students enjoy the ease of digital payments and most use the bank card they receive through the athletic program at the University of Florida.

4. The longevity of the shoe athletes purchase determines if the purchase was a good idea. Athletes put a lot of wear and tear on their shoes in shorter periods of time than non-athletes. They use their shoes for practices, working out, and everyday life. Shoes that do not create holes, loose soles or rip apart after extreme wear are great products for athletes to purchase. When products start to do these things after a short amount of time, this makes the buyer think their purchase was a bad idea.

5. Overall, I found that college athletes are trying to make smarter decisions when it pertains to shoes for themselves. They want to be cost-efficient but also want the best product that supports their strenuous lifestyle. I would describe this segment as one that is aware of their buyer behavior and how it affects them in their everyday lives.

14A- Halfway Reflection

When the professor tells you this class teaches you tenacity, he is telling the truth. As someone who just recently went through this course, I can say it has taught me a lot, not only about how to be an entrepreneur but also how to be a better student. You have to work ahead in this course and stay up to date with dates and deadlines. Working at least two weeks in advance will help for mishaps and conflicts.

I started feeling like I wanted to give up on this class during the first couple of assignments I missed. Even though each is worth only one or two points, it begins to take a toll on toll on your grade the more you miss. I had to realize that I needed to change my approach to the course. This entailed being more efficient with my time spent for this course and using my planner more religiously. Going through this course and learning the ways of an entrepreneur first hand all helped with building my tenacious attitude. I have to say that the drive to want to learn more about how to be an entrepreneur has contributed to this the most. Also, the extra credit helps me realize there is still hope to get the grade I really want in this course.

Three tips I would offer to you as a current student in ENT3003 is to work at least two weeks in advance. If you cannot get all assignments done for the week in time, at least try to do one. Also, be sure to complete ALL extra credit assignments. They do not come around often so take advantage of the help that your professor is giving you.

9A- Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

Who: There are certain people share a lot in common with people in my community, but fall outside the boundary. Adults without children and individuals who live in high-income suburbs are less likely to come into contact with issues involving kidnapping and threats. High-income suburbs have lower rates of crime rather than areas of low-income.

What:

Why: The underlying cause of the outsiders' need are different than the people who are inside the boundary. People inside the boundary are working to protect their families sons and daughters from the happenings of society. The cause of outsiders' need is simply to know how to defend themselves for their own health and self-awareness.

Interviewee #1: a 56-year-old woman from Greensboro, NC
Interviewee #2: a 34-year-old woman from Calvert County, Maryland
Interviewee #3: a 28-year-old male from Prince Georges County, Maryland
Interviewee #4: a 43-year-old male from Greensboro, NC
Interviewee #5: a 25-year-old woman from Gainesville, Florida

Inside the boundary
Outside the boundary
Who is in: high school and college-aged students
Who is not: Adults without children
What is the need: classes or informational sessions to gain knowledge on how to defend yourself in a crisis situation
What the need is not: a need for everyone, a need in high-income neighborhoods
Why the need exists: alarmingly high rates of abductions and assaults in the U.S.

8A: Solving the Problem

My hypothesis for the preceding exercise was High school and college-aged adults are in need of more self-defense and weapons training because of alarmingly high rates of abductions and assaults in the United States.

Solving the problem:
Boards of Education across the United States will require students to go through self-defense and weapons training courses in high schools and colleges. Students must renew their training every 2 years. If you are not a student, you can pay for these classes at the local Boys and Girls Clubs. This not only brings in money for the facilities but also raises awareness about Boys and Girls clubs and the various opportunities for individuals to get involved in their communities. 7A: Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

Opportunity to pursue: High school and college-aged adults do not have the knowledge on how to defend themselves in crisis situations because of alarmingly high rates of abductions and assaults in the United States.

  • The who: High school and college-aged adults in the United States
  • The what: Do not have the knowledge on how to defend themselves in crisis situations
  • The why: Alarmingly high rates of abductions and assaults
Testing the three elements:
  • Testing the who: Is it only young adults in the United States? Or, does this affect young adults across the world
  • Testing the what: Is it a defense against all weapons, Or, mainly guns? Is self-defense mainly against men? Or, should the class be catered to all genders? Are the classes providing basic training? Or, full defense training more of a necessity?
  • Testing the why: What are the range of whys that they offer? Does the why hold for everyone?

4A: Forming an Opportunity Belief

Beginning point
My belief that an opportunity exists: Become the first black woman creative director for Champs Corporate Offices; move up to becoming a creative director for Foot Locker, Inc.

Description
Creative directors plan advertising, oversee the creative process and gives guidance to the creative under them. There is an unmet need for diversity within the company and on the corporate level at Foot Locker, Inc. The need is new in today's society. Foot Locker is becoming a brand who caters to a more urban audience. Having more diversity on the corporate level can lead to strides within the company. Urban and diverse creatives can bring new ideas that ultimately push the brand into a new realm of opportunities. Although companies address diversity and inclusiveness, I do not think they are making strides to fully implement this in their companies. I am 85% sure that this opportunity exists.

Prototypical customer Iteration No. 1
Customer #1 is a 19-year-old male at the University of Florida. He buys shoes regularly for style rather than sport, and he recognizes the need for more diversity in advertisements, especially from brands whose target market is 15 to 19-year-olds in urban cities. He also recognizes the need for more creativity in the branding concepts and ideas for the company. Because he goes to a PWI, he tries to involve himself in social matters.

Prototypical customer Iteration No. 2
Customer #2 is a 9-year-old boy from the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. He represents the "hype beast" of children. He is not necessarily social conscious but he hears what his parents talk about and he gets his news from social media. He understands there is a gap between people who look like him and what he sees on the media. He likes to follow all the new trends but would like to be able to imagine himself in the ads through people who share a similar cultural background.

Prototypical customer Iteration No. 3
Customer #3 is a 42-year old nurse at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. She shops for comfort, rather than style, to help her get through the long days at work. She has 2 children and likes to be cost-efficient when making purchases for herself and her family. She likes to think that the brands she buys from support women who look like her and can relate to her experiences.

Reflection
I learned that the lack of diversity within the company turns people away from buying products from their stores. Foot Locker, Inc, has the potential to market to a large group of more urbanized, fashion aware individuals but they come from ethnic backgrounds that are not represented in their advertisements. I wonder if more ethnicities are not represented because the company does not want them or if it is because not enough people from various backgrounds are seeking out opportunities with their company.

Summary
I believe my opportunity is still there. By talking to a variety of customers, I can tell they want to be represented more by brands who they buy from regularly. Also, by talking to executives from Champs' corporate office, there is a need for more representation from various backgrounds so the company has an insight into how different people think and see their ads. I currently work for Foot Locker, Inc. and have been working there for about 4 years now. People come into our stores wanting to buy the new hottest things. The need and want for the items are there. However, with everything happening in the news in terms of race relations and more ethnically diverse individuals creating big businesses for themselves, there is a need for large corporations to come into compliance with the changes of society.

3A- Your entrepreneurship Story

Entrepreneurship has always been an important idea to my family and friends. I like to surround myself with like-minded people who strive for more than just working for "the man," but work to turn themselves into "the man". Entrepreneurship is the process of designing, launching, and running a new business, typically a small business. My mother, Nichole Jackson, is the epitome of a serial entrepreneur.

After losing her job in 2008 as a result of the recession, my mom decided to go into business for herself. From 2008 until now, my mother has built an empire of 5 different businesses. She is the co-owner of a car dealership and a Tag and Title. She owns a travel agency, a brand management company, and she is a real-estate agent. My mother always tells me that the best decision she ever made for herself was launching her own business. She has a new-found confidence and strives to do more for her family every day. My mother uses her experiences to instill in me the confidence I need to run my own company one day. She always gives me advice and tries to guarantee that I learn from her mistakes. My mother has always been the inspiration I need to be a successful, independent woman in today's society.

* I have included an ad for my mother's real-estate business in this post.

I enrolled in ENT3003 because I never saw myself as someone who could run my own business as an entrepreneur, mainly because I never know where to start. I am hoping this class can help me become more confident in my ideas and executing them. I also would like to learn various ways to solve challenges for the everyday entrepreneur.

2A Bug List

1. My friend came over and he left the toilet seat up even after I asked him to put it down the first time
   - why this bug exists: Men leave the seat up in the comfort of their own home so it becomes second nature to do the same at other's homes as well.

2. Having to experience institutional racism at the University of Florida and in America in general
   - why this bug exists: The US was built by criminals of the British Colony on the backs of enslaved humans. Even though we have made strides to become more inclusive, this bug still exists in the US because these ideas are constantly instilled in later generations who don't work to build a nation together.

3. I tend to crave Chic Fil A on Sundays, and they are closed on that day
   - why this bug exists: Chic Fil A is a business built on Christian ideals and values. In observance of this, Chic Fil A is closed for church and they also observe any Christian holidays, i.e. Christmas.

4.  The nail salon on archer road makes you soak off your acrylics in acetone instead of cutting them off.
   - why this bug exists: Nail salons make you stay in the salon longer to build more business, i.e adding on a pedicure since you have to wait for your nails to soak.

5. When my makeup breaks when I drop it on the floor
   - why this bug exists: Companies are using cheaper and easily breakable materials to store and create makeup because it won't last as long, and the simplest of drops will cause you to buy a new one a week after buying.

6. Smacking gum or food in my face while having a conversation with me
   - why this bug exists: People tend to smack more when they are having a conversation with food in their mouths. Since it is in our innate nature to not think about our chewing habits as we do them, people may not realize this is such an issue for most.

7. I broke my foot on the first day of classes and was on crutches for 5 days.
   - why this bug exists: to keep the injured off that particular foot and avoid increasing swelling which stops blood flow to the injured area.

8. My doctor put me in a boot for the next 3 weeks after being on crutches for 5 days because of my broken foot.
   - why this bug exists: The doctor wants to avoid having to do surgery on my foot so the boot will correct the injury while alleviating pain when walking on it

9. Wearing contacts and having to constantly put them in and take them out every day
   - why this bug exists: it gives you the ease of not having to wear glasses every day. This is also beneficial during the summer months if you do not have transitions glasses. Contact lenses need to be taken out to be cleaned and get rid of the bacteria that builds during the day.

10. The parking spaces on the University of Florida's campus are always too tight for cars
   - why this bug exists: To suffice for the lack of land for parking, the University tries to fit as many parking spaces in one area as they can, so they are typically smaller.

11. The lack of parking spaces available on the University of Florida's campus during the school year.
   - why this bug exists: The university limits the availability of parking so people are forced to buy a parking decal. The university also makes hundreds of thousands of dollars a year with parking tickets from people who do not abide by the parking rules.

12. Between the hours of 2-4 am, the wait for food at Sonic is always extremely long.
   - why this bug exists: Sonic offers half-priced drinks and shakes during the hours of 2-4 am and pm. These hours are perfect for people on break at work or coming in the house from a night of going out. This was a great business idea because people are always thirsty after dancing and having fun all night.

13. People talking over me during a conversation or debate about a topic.
   - why this bug exists: People who aren't as assertive or confident in their speech or argument tend to make themselves heard by being louder or not letting people get their point across.

14. Having a conversation with a narrowminded individual
   - why this bug exists: Everyone was not raised to think outside of the box or go the extra mile to generate ideas. In the end, narrowminded people are needed within society to help creatives be more open to trying new things

 15. My left taillight went out the first week of classes
   - why this bug exists: My light sensor came on during the drove from home in Maryland to Florida for the start of classes. I never went to get my car inspected after the long drive and my laziness to get it checked following the drive caused it to finally go out.

16. Waiting in long grocery store lines at Walmart because of the lack of open registers
   - why this bug exists: Walmart closes their registers to decrease the number of workers in the store. This is smart from a business perspective because more people will go to self-checkout and Walmart does not have to compensate for worker's hours. This also increases the chance of people buying more items the longer they have to wait in line.

17. It takes about 15-20 extra minutes to get to work by 8 am on Tuesday-Thursday
   - why this bug exists: More people take off on Mondays and Fridays so there is an increase in traffic on the other 3 days of the work week.

18. People who play music without headphones on the bottom floor of Marston
   - why this bug exists: Studies show that students study better and comprehend the material more when there is noise in the background. The bottom floor of Marston is also a safe space for students to talk while studying instead of being in a normal library setting.

19. The gas at the Kangaroo gas station near my house is always more expensive than other gas stations.
   - why this bug exists: The gas station near my house is the only one within a 15-mile radius. The Kangaroo can charge higher prices because they know people will still buy their gas no matter the price if they are really in need

20. The withdrawal fee for taking money out the ATM if it is not for your specific bank.
   - why this bug exists: Banks make money from their fees. Someone who needs cash at the moment will pay a fee if it is required to get the funds they need.

Creating the "bug" list was challenging at first but it became easier as I started to write my answers down on paper. I became more aware of how much I complain about the little things that bug me when half of them could be avoided by changing little things within myself or my daily routine. I also asked friends about things that "bug" them on a day to day basis. Doing this reminded me of things that ten to bug me without me even realizing it.
